What the SBS50 actually does

The SBS50 is the hub that connects compatible X-Sense devices to the X-Sense Home Security app over 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi.

X-Sense says the SBS50 supports up to 50 interconnected smart devices and provides real-time push notifications. With the SWS51, both the detector and the base station can sound when a leak is detected.

When you need one

Why the bundle price matters

DIY Price Watch currently tracks both sensor-only packs and bundles that include the SBS50. That means two prices that look similar may represent different starting points.

Before choosing the lowest observed price, check whether you already have the base station the sensor requires. A cheaper sensor-only pack is not the cheaper setup if you still need to buy the hub separately.

One base station, many devices

X-Sense states that one SBS50 can manage up to 50 compatible devices. That makes the hub a shared part of the system rather than something you buy again for every room.

If you already use an SBS50 for other compatible X-Sense devices, adding leak sensors can be an expansion of the same system rather than a separate setup.

If you are buying SWS51 sensors for the first time, include the SBS50 in your plan. If you already have a compatible SBS50, compare the sensor-only packs by how many additional leak zones you want to cover.
